Fun Facts:

Hualien, in the East Rift Valley, is the last so-called untouched land in Taiwan. Settlers to Taiwan from China brought a complex tea culture, which has been layered upon by the Japanese and further developed by the West, including Portuguese explorers who called the island Formosa. The tea plantations there help to create Taiwan’s intricate, social tea culture.
